I am excited to launch my YouTube Channel. I currently have all the episodes to my webseries Violet, blooper reels, and other projects posted. The plan is to post everything I do in pre-production leading up to my newest project The Bazaar. An anthology series consisting of 4 unique and twisted stories. The first episode is titled Gentleman Caller and I will be in NYC this Saturday holding callbacks for the lead role. I will be posting some BTS footage after the auditions so be sure to check it out! For now, be sure to subscribe to my channel and give my videos a like.
My 2018 Directorial Reel
Yes. It's been a long time and a lot has happened since I last blogged well over a year ago. I finished my latest feature film, Trailer Park Princess, and I am currently entering it into festivals. I am currently in pre-production for my latest project. An anthology series called "The Bazaar." I will be posting regularly to keep everyone up to date and how they can get involved.
I am currently working on several new ventures to make my pre-production process more interactive and inclusive. I will be launching a YouTube channel in the next couple of days that will highlight some of my previous work as well as exclusive behind the scenes footage of what I am working on now.
I am excited to release my 2018 directorial reel. It includes footage from all of my projects and I hope it will give you a glimpse of my style and hopefully will inspire you to come back often to my blog.
Last Saturday my crew and I got together to shoot a teaser for Trailer Park Princess. I plan on releasing the teaser by the end of April. There are a lot of things that still need to be done to make the teaser pop and get people excited for the film.
I was assisted by an amazing group of people. Everyone pitched in every way that they could which is what you need to succeed on an indie film shoot. Big thank you to my lead actress Jillian Guerts for traveling from NYC to star in the teaser. Also need to say thank you to my amazing crew which includes Ron DiPrimio, Ryan Burnett, Sarah DiPrimio, Jackie Martine, Doug Cogit, and John Rattacassa. My additional cast for this day included Luis Cruz, Rocco Doran, JT Hubbard, and Chris Virunurm. They all did a great job and I can't thank them enough.
We filmed at Let's Party Painters in Corbin City, NJ. Shawna Mulford and Rocco Doran were kind enough to lend us a perfect space and basically gave us carte blanche to do what we needed to make the set come to life. It is so important to have people who believe in what you are trying to accomplish and are willing to donate their time and resources.
It was amazing to be on set again. It is the greatest feeling in the world to watch something you worked hard on come to life. My confidence grows each time I step on set. It's crazy to think I started directing when I was 13 years old and here it is 4 years later and I still learn something new every project.
Quick update on where we are budget wise. Since launching the store we have raised an additional $1257.00. That is amazing and I am so grateful to everyone who has purchased an item or donated. This movie is happening and I can't wait to reward your trust and belief in me by delivering a movie that you will be proud to say you made happen. If you haven't visited the store you can do so by clicking HERE.
I have added some of my favorite BTS photos below. Thank you for reading my blog. Bye for now.
What we are up to
In one week we are filming a teaser for Trailer Park Princess. It's going to be great to be behind the camera again. I am excited to be back on set with my crew and I'm really looking forward to work with the lead in Trailer Park Princess Jillian Geurts. I can't wait for August when I get to work with the entire cast.
We have also been busy casting the rest of the film and putting together the shooting schedule. There is so much to do during pre-production and I absolutely love it. Putting together the looks for each character is one of my favorite things to do. Every detail is vital. It is important that each character is distinguishable and unique.
I am also enjoying the production design aspect of pre-production. Building the world that will be the setting for Trailer Park Princess is exhilarating. I want the sets to be truly immersive for the audience.
When you're a true micro budget independent film it is crucial to get the most bang for your buck when it comes to wardrobe and production design. Those are two areas you can really control what you spend. Antique stores, thrift stores, flea markets, and even yard sales are valuable resources. Being able to bargain and negotiate price really helps when managing the budget. I have had quite a bit of luck on Etsy when it comes to finding the right wardrobe for my characters look. You have to hunt a little harder for a good bargain but they can be had if you're diligent.
In the next couple of weeks we will be posting some behind the scenes videos from our pre-production work as well as the teaser shoot. I will also be recording a Q&A where I will be answering some of the questions that I am asked the most.
I will end with the obligatory plug for our store. We have some great items available and every dime goes towards the film. This film is going to happen. I hope you will take this ride with me.
Thanks for reading and keep coming back for more updates.
My 2017 Reel
I put this reel together to showcase my work and to use as a presentation tool to potential investors and backers.
Most of you probably aren't familiar with my work and that might be one of the reasons you are hesitant to invest in my film. Hope you enjoy the reel. Thanks for watching.
Where The Money Goes
I was recently asked what costs were associated with making a film. I have created a pie chart that shows how the $50,000 budget will be spent.
The majority of the budget goes towards our cast and crew. These expenditures include their salaries, lodging, and food. Luckily we already own the majority of the equipment we need to film the movie properly. We are also very fortunate in the fact that we have locked up the majority of our locations at little to no cost.
Every dime we raise goes towards the making of Trailer Park Princess. I hope you will consider purchasing one of the items in our store or even pre-ordering Trailer Park Princess. By request we have added a PayPal button in our store so you can donate money directly to the film without purchasing a product.
Your money goes a long way to putting creative and talented people to work. On this level of independent film making it's rare you have a production that is willing to pay cast and crew in accordance to SAG low budget scale. We believe people should be compensated for their talent and time. We cut costs in other ways but never at the expense of our cast and crew.
As I stated in my last blog if we fail to reach our funding goal we will refund the money for the $30 package as well as the $10 pre-order. Thank you for your time and your support.
It's been nearly a month since we launched our online store. We did this in hopes of raising of the remaining budget for Trailer Park Princess. It hasn't gone nearly as well as we had hoped but I am determined to make this film. I think one of the issues may be there isn't any guarantee the film will get made so people are hesitant to pre-order the film or purchase one of the packages.
If we don't raise the money needed we will refund the money to those who pre-ordered the movie or bought a package. This is an all or nothing proposition. I realize that wasn't made clear when we launched our store.
Hopefully this will ease some of the hesitation and reluctance to support the film. I am only as good as my word. I would not risk my future or my career by screwing people out of their money. If we do not reach our goal by July we will refund your money. This refund is only for the pre-order of Trailer Park Princess and the $30 package. Everything else that is purchased on our site are tangible goods and will be sent out.
I asked myself before we decided to offer up the movie for pre-sale if I thought it was possible to find 3,000 people to pre-order the film? It's a tall order, I realize that. But 3,000 people that's 60 people per state. If I personally visited each state could I find 60 people to invest $10 in my film? I think I could. Unfortunately I don't have the means to go on a cross country tour and visit each state. So, I must rely on the power of the internet and social media to get my message across. So far, less than a month in I have been able to find 10 people to take that chance. 2,990 to go.
If any one has any questions or concerns I am easy to get in touch with and I will be more than happy to answer your concerns.
On to what I've been up to. We have been busy preparing for a teaser trailer we are shooting March 25th. I am very excited about the concept for the trailer and plan on using this as an investment/marketing tool for Trailer Park Princess. I have also been working on my personal sizzle reel. I think it's important to show potential investors and customers what I am capable of achieving.
I have also been busy casting the remaining roles. There was a great response to my latest casting call and the level of talent available is astonishing. I can't wait to work these talented actors.
I hope you decide that this film and myself are worth the $10 investment. I promise you, if we reach our goal you will be proud that you did. Click HERE to check out my store and the items that are available.
Off and Running
We've added a progress bar to our website so you can see how we are faring in our attempt to raise our remaining budget for Trailer Park Princess. In less than a week we have raised 3% and I know it may not seem like a lot but it means the world to me. It is my mission to prove that I am worthy of your time and your hard earned money.
I hope you will consider investing $10 in me and Trailer Park Princess. With that $10 you are not only securing a copy of Trailer Park Princess. You are helping pay the salaries of hard working creative people. The majority of the money raised will be used to pay cast and crew, house them, transport them, and feed them. I have secured most of my locations and I will not be drawing a salary for this film. Neither will my father who is my cinematographer.
We added a meet the cast page to the site. There are links to each of their websites or IMDB pages so you can learn more about them. We had over one thousand submissions for these particular roles and I was really lucky to find actors and actresses who are the perfect embodiment of the characters in Trailer Park Princess.
Click HERE to see all the items we have available for you to purchase. That's where you can pre-order Trailer Park Princess for only $10!
Some words from our cast
As I mentioned in a previous post, fundraising is in full swing for Trailer Park Princess. The incredible actors that I have cast so far inspire me to do everything I can to make this movie a reality.
Recently, I had the opportunity to sit down with several of the cast members and they expressed why they think it's important for people to support this project.
